Finger Rehab

Hey All,
So after posponing going to the doc for almost 2 months I decided to go and have my finger x-rayed. Im not sure how or when exactly I injured it(most prob during karate training) but it started to hurt like hell recently.
So I went to my uncle who is a radiologist in one of the private hospitals. The good news is its not fractured, just badly bruised. Doc says I should have had it taken care of the same day I injured it...What he doesnt understand is that in karate we ALWAYS get injured, and we let it pass, its not the first time. In this case I was unaware of how badly I injured myself.

We're starting karate again in September now that our Sensei is coming back from vacation. I have to fix it! I can't even make a fist! I literally stuck my finger in the docs face and was like "I need you to fix it!"...He said it'll take while to heal and in the mean time to stay away from any contact sports. I need to splint my finger(I'm not sure Im saying this right) for 10 days and then follow up. Sucks.

So that was before yesterday, I promised hubby I'd leave it on for the whole day but I had to take it off bc 1. It was annoying me and 2. I had to take a shower. So I took it off yesterday morning and mum(who is a retired nurse) put a new one for me, which is a plus in this case bc i dont have to go to the doc everytime for a new splint and bandage.

Now since I've only seen a general doctor mum advised me to see an orthpedic doctor, she suspects a ruptured tendon. Damn.

But heres another plus! I wont be doing dishes for a while so Yay:)

Post-Marriage Symptoms

Hi All,

I know I haven’t really been writing anything serious on my blog, for some reason I’ve always been quite hesitant to express myself, even though in both my personal life and work I’ve always been subjected to constructive criticism, maybe its because the ones who criticize me know me well enough to pass judgment and I allow it, but writing my thoughts and view on things, people, and life to strangers is something else. It’s about time don’t you think?

I’ve mentioned hubby a few times in my blogs so ya’ll know I’m married. It’s been almost 10 months now. I’d have to say that marriage has its ups and downs but as long as there is communication and compromise between the two you could always reach a mutual conformity. Don’t get me wrong, I am happily married. But for sure you gotta hit a few speed bumps every now and again.

So anyways, I’ve noticed a lot of changes in me that I never would have thought possible. I listed some I’m sure there’s more but cant think of them at the moment:

For example, the IDEA, just the thought of cooking would have never crossed my mind until now. I was terrified of the cooking stove, embarrassing yes, I’ve always had this mental image of the stove blowing up on me, when it comes to lighting a gas stove during my single days I use to light it with a match and then use tongs to hold the match and then I light the stove lol…im a wuss I know, and that’s coming from someone whos been in the Karate academy for more than 3 years hehehe:)
So anyways my mother-in-law got me a lighter thingy so that was solved, when we later moved into our new apartment I got an electric stove. Hubby thought it would be better and safer, I have the tendency to leave my very long and straight hair down while im cooking, I also have the tendency to dance and sing while I’m at it...not a good combination hehe:)

So yes Cooking!!I LOVE cooking, before I got married all I could make was microwave popcorn! And a cup of coffee (which doesn’t always come out good). Who would have thought that just after a few months I could make meatloaf, pasta, teriyaki, salads, cookies? No one! But I know myself and my constant quest for perfection to be good at everything I do, I want to be the best wife, employee, mother(not yet though), sister…it can be exhausting though…..hubby has to remind me from time to time that I am NOT superwoman.

I also used to be the messiest (probably the most out of my 4 sisters), it used to get so bad you cant see the floor, I found a spoon once AND a bowl of stale popcorn in my desk drawer and cubby .My most messiest was during my college days, what with papers, pictures and posters sprawled all over the floor and wall, I am Geologist, and the only other person I know who is as messy as me is one of my professors, and his excuse is “all geologists are messy”… that didn’t work on mum though:)

The NEW me is constantly cleaning the apartment, I don’t have a nanny and I don’t plan on having one until much later, right now I like the idea of taking care of my place myself, I like my privacy, I know ill have to surrender eventually when I have a baby, I hold a 7am-4pm job with a possible part-time job(tentative) on weekends so a nanny would be useful in the future.

I love my washer and dryer. I think whoever invented it was genius. During my single days I remember traveling to Houston for work for a month and I had to do my own laundry….all my white clothes turned green….i think it was that evil green sweater I just happened to mix in with the load:)

Now I have a routine with that, I have 3 loads, I call them The Colours, The Lights and The Whites….no more mixing I learned my lesson. Love the smell of fresh laundry:)

I enjoy the home and kitchen items section in the supermarket. Yes its become my heaven, I don’t think I ever went to that section during my single days unless I was forced to. Now I get strangely excited whenever I stroll by those aisles:)

So that’s my random blabber for now

Office Safety

Hehe so true:)

Buca: New Addition to the family...

Dear All,

Isn't he the cutest little thing ever?!! Omg hes so cute I want to eat him! So anyway this is Buca, my sisters new chihuahua puppy, I honestly thought getting a pet would deviate my sister from all her knitting, crocheting and whatever weird stuff she likes to do in her free time. On the contrary, she knitted sweaters for Buca and made him wear them...and the funniest thing is that he doesnt mind!

For those of you who are wondering why Buca(I was wondering myself). Buca is supposedly short for Sambuca which is an Italian aniseed-flavored, usually colourless liquer. I did more resarch on it and and it can be served in different ways:

Neat
Sambuca can be served neat, as
Ammazzacaffè or just as refreshment.

On the rocks
Sambuca can be served with ice, optionally adding some coffee beans as ornament. The ice exalts the flavors and changes the color of the drink from transparent to dense white.

With toasted coffee beans
In Italy it is common to serve neat Sambuca with some floating coffee beans dropped on it: it is called Sambuca con mosca (literally, "Sambuca with flies").

Inside coffee
Sambuca can be added to coffee as a sweetener instead of sugar. The mixed drink in Italian is called caffè corretto (literally, "corrected coffee").

With water
Sambuca can be served adding fresh water, becoming a refreshing less alcoholic drink.

Flaming Sambuca
A flaming Sambuca is typically made by lighting the drink in a
shot glass and allowing it to burn. The flame is then extinguished and the Sambuca is quickly drunk whilst still warm. One popular method of extinguishment is placing the palm of the hand over the top of the shot glass, where suction is created causing the shot glass to "stick" to the hand. This is also potentially dangerous; if the flame is allowed to burn for too long, it will heat up the shot glass also - resulting in burn injuries to the hand.
Another method for igniting the drink is a potentially dangerous party trick known as the gas chamber. One person takes a shot of Sambuca into the mouth and someone else lights it. The flame is extinguished by closing the mouth.

Another technique is to pour a shot of Sambuca into a wine glass, and then to light it, swirling the shot continuously. Pour it into the original shot glass, then cover with the wine glass to extinguish the flame, remove the wine glass but still keep it upside-down. Take the shot then using a straw suck out the alcohol fumes of the wine glass, allowing you to fully taste Sambuca.
Interesting....I would really like to know what kinda idiot would wanna have a flaming Sambuca:)
